The Kalka-Shimla railway narrow-gauge railway in Northern India which traverses a mountainous route from Kalka to Shimla. It is known for mesmerizing views of the hills and rustic villages enroute. The railway was built in 1898 to connect to Shimla, the summer capital of India .

UNESCO declared the Kalka-Shimla railway to the mountain railways of India World Heritage Site.

The journey starts at Kalka in the Himalayan Shivalik Hills foothills, past Dharampur, Solan, Kandaghat, Taradevi, Barog, Salogra, Totu (Jutogh) and Summerhill, to Shimla at an altitude of 6,808 ft
